Reflection Part 2

1) What is the greatest challenge facing your generation? What will be necessary to address it?
I think that the biggest problem/challenge that our generation/class has is that we aren’t “self motivated” the reason why I say this is because in Darren’s class we were watching a video about how our generation has to have directions and steps or else we will not be able to “work”. I think to fix this it would have to start with the students and as well the teachers. The students just have to be more motivated and the teachers have to stop babying there students and let them figure it out by themselves.

2)What in the world do you care about and what are you doing about it?

3)What four-year college/s are you interested in and why?
I want to be a firefighter and I was researching and I can go to a community college, like Southwestern College. What I would have to study would be EMT, which is Emergency Medical Technicians. I am not sure about San Diego Sate but if they do offer some courses in what I want to study that would be my number one choice.

4)Beyond grades, what motivates you to work hard at school?
I would have to say my family and sports I want to go to college because I would be the first in my family to go to college I want to set a good example for my sisters, I want them to have somebody to look up to. Sports have shown me how to work as a team. I have also considered that if my grades are not where I want them to be then I could get a scholarship in sports

Reflection Part 1

1) What have you learned about the way you learn, work, and/or collaborate?
I really learned a lot about myself this semester, because last year I failed the semester so I promised myself that I would try harder and make sure that I passed this semester. So I don’t really know if it was because of the pressure that I put on myself to do well or if I was just going with the flow. I believe that my work progressed because of my internship experience. I was able to see the real world and not just think or talk about it. That learning process made me see the world in a different way. My collaboration has always been good because I have attended project-based school since the 6th grade I got used to working as a team player.

2) What project was most valuable to you, and what have you gained from it?
Ampersand. This project was able to show me to write at the best of my abilities. When I first started this project I was kind of scared because my writing was not that good. The first thing that I remember Randy saying was this is going to have to be the best writing piece that you will write or else its not going to be in the book. It was very hard for me just to start, but little by little I was able to get my writing to the high standards of what my teacher wanted. Of course it took me time to learn how to write well but I got it down, I believe.

3) Describe one valuable mistake you made this year.
The biggest mistake that I had was at the end of semester one, it was with the project Media Saves the Beach. The reason why I had a problem with this project was because my video was not done and my computer broke the week before. So I was not able to finish my project because of technical issues. I believe I had a B in Randy’s class before this but because I got a zero on this project I now have to go to summer school.

Literary Reflections

If you could bring one character from any one book that we have read this year with you when you go to college, who would bring? Why?
I would bring Gatsby, the reason for this would be, so that he could be my rich professor. The twist in this would be since we are friends he would teach me how to be stealthy, how to bootleg and let my borrow money , but in the future it might now work out so well.

1. Summarize the facts of the case, as presented by the prosecution. Include relevant witnesses and testimony.
Well there where many facts that the prosecution had.

2. Summarize the facts of the case, as presented by the defense. Include relevant witnesses and testimony.
I don’t think that the defense had any good facts and it was so all over the place.

3. What was the most significant piece of evidence, in your personal opinion?
I believe that the constitution was the most important evidence because, its like the rule books or the guide lines that the United States has to go by. And since the prosecution used this to there advantage in a very good way they were really able to make there case I believe 3 or 4 times better then it would have been with out it.

4. What was the most significant argument made, in your opinion?
I think that it was the McDonalds story the reason why is because one this is real life so the jury can relate to it and the second reason is because this happened before the law even has gone through so just imagine how bad its going to be when the law does go through. The prosecution side was able to make this point a lot of times and for some reason the defense was not even able I believe to answer this.

5. What do you personally believe the correct verdict should be? Do you agree with the jury? Why or why not?
I think that today the correct team won and that was the prosecution. They had more facts to back them self’s up and to be honest I as a Latino would not want to have to carry around I.D. just because I am darker then someone else. I believe that the jury choice right because this law is stupid because this I one country that is pretty much fighting the whole world that is not an American citizen. They are clearly racially profiling that is not correct for anybody at any moment or time.

I think I deserve a 47 out of 50 points because I took very good notes and stayed quite the whole time and was very aware about what was going on. But I think that I could have been a little more better in the conference room when I we were talking about the verdict.

GOW essay

Steinbeck, I feel that he wrote this book sort of weird the reason why is because, he used this technique that I have never seen in a book before. If I have I have never seen it with such success. Steinbeck would be able to focus on one family and little by little go into one person, but then it would come out and relate to the whole nation and show that the Joad family was not the only ones going through this struggle.

I thought that this technique was established so fast in the book. They were able to show that the Joad family was strong. I felt as though that when Steinbeck put that in I felt as though he was using the Joad family as a metaphor. The Joad family was the nation and how every one was trying to act so strong and like nothing was happening but then when they started to notice that they were really in trouble the started to weaken. At the end of the book I felt that the emotion started to come out especially on the zoomed in chapters. On the chapters that were zoomed out I felt as though as if I was more connected to the story then when it was zoomed in

Of course there were some chapters were I was not able to feel any emotion for the charters it didn’t matter if the chapter was zoomed out or zoomed in. I think that the reason for that was because I know what happened in the dust bowl. There was chapter 14 that just jumped out the reason why was because I really never thought that the dust bowl was that bad. I shocked me so much how badly the farmers were fighting. It was as though it was a survive of the fittest. Even after I know so much about the dust bowl.

Over all I think that the technique worked perfectly most of the time. It added this I want to keep on reading feeling. And I felt as though I was in the story it was very personal.

Blog #10

I don’t know that much about the dust bowl. But the little that I do know I would say Yea. I think that this is the reason that I enjoy this book so much because I can relate to the book very well. I really do feel bad for them because I have not gone through that, and hopefully I wont but if I would I would want some one to help me does matter if there just doing it because they feel bad

Post a thoughtful reflection on how you have performed within the numerous freedoms associated with Ampersand. Then post a thoughtful reflection on how you have performed within the numerous structures associated with Ampersand.
I have not been doing a lot other then just thinking of ideas. So I have have not been using my time up completely successfully. I think that the book is pretty cool and I liked the way that we can see all the stories about every body's day went by.
